Safety Issues

  • Over the past year PXA Management have made a concerted effort to provide additional safety training to all their valued staff and subcontractors, namely: -

1. 1 No. PXA staff attended a OSHC safety in demolition in October 2006

2. 3 No. PXA staff attended a CITA safety course for installation and demolition of aluminum scaffolding supervision

3. 6 No. PXA staff members attended a St. John's Ambulance First Aid Certificate course in October 2005 & January 2007.

4. 1 No. PXA staff member attended a CITA Training course for a Technically Competent Person (TCP 6.1 & 6.2).

5. 10 No. PXA staff members completed a CITA Safety Supervisor Training (Construction).

6. 1 No. PXA staff member attended an OSHC risk assessment course in March 2006.

7. PXA's Subcontractor Safety Award Scheme commenced in January 2006. PXA issue certificates each month to the best safety performing subcontractor.

8. 1 No. PXA staff member attended an OSHC Pneumoconiosis and its Prevention in the Construction and Quarrying Industry seminar in March 2006.

9. 2 No. PXA staff members attended a training course for Registration of Construction Workers.

10. PXA's Best Worker Scheme commenced in January 2007. PXA issues certificates each month to the best safety performing worker.

11. PXA’s outstanding safety performance award scheme commenced in November 2007. PXA issues certificate and reward to the best safety performing staff every month

12. PXA enrolled in the Hong Kong Construction Safety Promotional Campaign 2006 organized by OSHC. The following certificates were granted:

a. Certificate of Participation for The Best Refurbishment and Maintenance Contractor in Occupational Safety and Health (Project involved: House 2 & 3, 3 Coombe Road, The Peak.)

b. The Outstanding Employee in Occupational Safety and Health (Outstanding Employee: Anthony Leung)

c. Certificate of Participation for The Safe Working Cycle (Project involved: Pacific Place LG1 & LG2 Enabling Works (Participated by Gammon))

13. PXA obtains the EXCELLENCE AWARD for Occupational Health Campaign in Hearing Practtices Award (Project Involved: Pacific Place LG1 & LG2 Enabling Works)

14. PXA participates in competition of Construction Safety Promotional Campaign 2007 organized by OSHC. They include: -
a. The Best Refurbishment and Maintenance Contractor in Occupational Safety and Health; and
b. The Outstanding Employee in Occupational Safety and Health

15. PXA participates in competition of 6th Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health jointly organized by OSHC / Labour Department, trade unions and business communities. The categories participated include: -

a. Safety Management System Award

b. Safety Performance Award

16. PXA participates in competition of Occupational Health Promotional Campaign 2007 and obtain Meritorious Awards in the following catalogues: -

a. Hearing Conservation Best Practices Award

b. Prevention of Pneumoconiosis Best Practices Award

17. PXA participates in competition of 7th Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health jointly organized by OSHC / Labour Department, trade unions and business communities. The following certificates obtain: -

a. Participate Certiifcate for Safety Management System Award

b. Safety Performance Award

18. PXA participates in Construction Industry Safety Award Scgene 2007 / 2008 and obtain Meritorious Award for Renvoation and maintenance works - sub-contractor (Project Involved: Pacific Place L4 Restaurant).

19. 1 No. PXA staff member attended CITA Training course for competent persons of confined space operations

20. 2 No. PXA staff members attended OSHC Safe Working at Height Seminar and Exhibition for the Construction Industry in May 2007
